Guidelines for new processes, products and services for urban parks, nature parks and protected areas

The research project has been put at the service of the precompetitive development of a series of new processes, products and services, described in the project Guidelines, which CS&L Consorzio Sociale today proposes to its potential clients.

Low cost realization of green areas and their management. Technical and design solutions relating to the choice of plant species, planting, irrigation, fertilising, mulching, transplanting of small plants and big trees, lawns, etc. inspired by the low cost criteria of the green area, both in terms of savings on future management costs.

Furniture. Choice of design and supply solutions referring to the furniture to be used in the areas, inspired by the criteria of using recycled materials and/or the site specific design with the use of “poor” materials: all this is proposed in order to lower costs, promote purchases that are environmentally correct and to enhance the identity of sites through unique design choices.

Technologies for environmental sustainability. Design choices on the use of advanced technologies to reduce environmental impact and use of resources, such as the production of electricity for lighting using photovoltaic or micro-hydro technology, phyto-purification of surface waters, the use of green building criteria for construction products to be realised in the parks.

Development of projects that enhance the identity of sites. Defining the landscape-image of parks through design choices that allow the enhancement of the identity and uniqueness of sites, as a result of a process of contemplating the genius loci, possibly obtained also through participatory design methodologies involving citizens.

Participatory management. Actions for implementing participatory design models and participatory management of parks and gardens (community gardens).

Full service realisation of gardens. Gardening interventions, installation of furniture, realisation of lighting systems and other equipment.
